The Buffalo Sabres were just two minutes away from winning a big game against the Blackhawks in Chicago when the Hawks tied the score forcing overtime and like he has so many times before, Buffalo-native Patrick Kane won it in overtime.  The win extends the Blackhawks winning streak over the Sabres to 10 straight games.

The Sabres got goals from Marcus Foligno, Kyle Okposo and Jack Eichel.  The goals by Okposo and Eichel both coming on the power play.  Eichel's goal early in the third period gave the Sabres a 3-2 lead and it looked like the Sabres might be able to hold on until Artem Anisimov scored off an assist by Patrick Kane, then Kane finished off the Sabres when he scored off a rebound in overtime.

It spoiled a great game by Sabres goaltender Anders Nilsson who stopped 40 shots. The Blackhawks outshot the Sabres 43-20 for the game.

So the Sabres take three of a possible four points after stops in New York and Chicago.  They return home to host the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday afternoon at 1 pm.
