Forward Brian Gionta played 16 season in the National Hockey League. He played three of them with the Buffalo Sabres from 2014-2017. He was also a captain for the Sabres during his time in Buffalo. He retired in 2018.

It was announced yesterday that Gionta would be part of the 2019 induction class for the USA Hockey Hall of Fame, according to WKBW.

The other inductees include, current NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman,  "Hockey is for Everyone" program founder Neal Henderson, former Olympian Krissy Wendell-Pohl and former Boston Bruins goaltender, Tim Thomas.

Gionta is a Rochester, New York native and is currently a developmental coach with the Sabres.

His best season as a pro was in 2005-2006, when he scored 48 goals for the New Jersey Devils.
