There is a program that the SPCA does every Memorial Day for anyone who is serving our country or anyone who HAS served our country. There are so many benefits that have been shows when our military men and women receive from getting a pet. The Erie County SPCA offers free pets for them. But, don't think just a dog or a cat. You can pick out a dog, cat, parrot, exotic or farm animal...ANY ANIMAL they offer.

VETS AND PETS

Monday, May 24th through Monday, May 31st

The location on Harlem Road in West Seneca will be open for the free adoption except for Sunday and Monday they will be closed. You can go check out ANY of the offsite locations all over Western New York that partner with the Erie County SPCA. The link for all of those locations are here.

Chief Communications Officer Gina Lattuca said:

There are people who come in during Pets and Vets looking specifically for the exotic birds that we have up for adoption. The macaws and the Amazon parrots because of companions that they are.
I know and I'm sure any cat owner can tell you, even if you've gone through some type of physical trauma or a mental or emotional trauma, the impact of having a purring cat on your lap is unlike anything else. I mean, it's really incredible, all kinds of animals. People have come to vets and pets looking for snakes and we often have snakes available for adoptions", according to WGRZ.
