Is The Niagara Falls Disney Store at the Fashion Outlets Closing?
Online shopping is great, but there are some Disney workers today who are hoping that it doesn't put them out of a job.
Disney has announced that they will be closing 20% of their brick-and-mortar stores and focusing on their website for online shopping instead.
That means that about 60 of their North American stores will close. They, unfortunately, didn't say which stores it would be though. As of right now, there is no word as to whether that includes or doesn't include the Disney Store that is in the Fashion Outlets in Niagara Falls. There are about 300 Disney Stores worldwide.
According to CNBC, the goal is to move to more online shopping.
"While consumer behavior has shifted toward online shopping, the global pandemic has changed what consumers expect from a retailer,” - Stephanie Young, president of consumer products, games and publishing.
They said that many of the Disney Stores, the way they are now, are mostly stocked with children’s apparel, toys, plush and games. The move to a more online-focused experience will also give them a chance to increase the product assortment. They intend to carry more adult apparel collections, streetwear, premium home products and collectibles.
I picture more of the things that you find at Disney Springs being available through their ShopDisney experience.
This wouldn't be the first time a Disney Store was closed in Western New York. You may remember there was a big one at the Walden Galleria that unfortunately is no longer there.
I have never been much of a business person but what I don't understand is why they would make an announcement about closing stores and not make the announcement of which ones would be closing. Why leave people with that kind of uncertainty?
We hope that the store in Niagara Falls makes it through these cuts.
