The massive Amazon warehouse that currently sits vacant on Rt.5 in Hamburg will soon be busy with packages and workers.

The warehouse which was completed back in March of 2022, is set to open soon.


The company blamed supply chain issues for the delay in the opening of the building. The company said it has trouble getting robotics and other items needed for the warehouse to function on time.

The Amazon warehouse project was approved by the town board in 2021 and the online retail giant was given several million dollars in tax breaks because it was going to bring in hundreds of higher-paying jobs to the area.

As of right now, according to a post on helpwanted.com, Amazon is hiring warehouse workers in the Hamburg area. The listing is for both full-time and part-time work. It doesn't say how much the company is paying for each position.

You'll be part of the Amazon warehouse team that gets orders ready for customers relying on Amazon services. Our fast-paced, physical roles take place in a variety of areas including merch, make-on-demand, customer returns, Prime Now, and general fulfillment. You will be selecting, packing, and shipping orders in some cases, for our super-fast (2-hour or less) delivery service.

Officials in the town of Hamburg say if Amazon doesn't move into the building in a timely manner, they would look into recouping the money loss from the tax breaks given to the company.
