He hasn't second-guessed the decisions he's made about his medical situation.  He doesn't regret how it all unfolded in Buffalo...but he does have a regret.

It's a bit of an understatement to say that things were messy when Jack Eichel left.  He wanted to get a progressive surgery but the Sabres didn't want him to.  They thought it was too risky.  So he wanted out.  But a lot of teams weren't interested in taking the risk so he sat on the Sabres...injured...and unable to see ice time.

They finally find a trade partner with the Vegas Golden Knights and all is well with the world again.

Eichel doesn't have any regrets about how that all went down.  He's not bitter towards Buffalo.  He was able to finally get his surgery.  The Sabres were able to get value for a player that they had invested heavily in.

But he does have a regret about his time in Buffalo.

He regrets that the team didn't win more for long-time play-by-play announcer Rick Jeanneret.

“There’s some amazing people that work for the Sabres organization, and those are the people you want to have success for. You look at a guy like RJ, there’s not a lot of better people that you’re going to come across. He’s been doing this forever. When you think of the Sabres, you kind of think of him. You just wish you had more success for people like that that have been here through everything" - Jack Eichel

Jeanneret has been the announcer for the Sabres since October of 1971.  That, according to the team, makes him the longest-tenured announcer in the league.

That's why I'd like to see the Sabres (and the Bills for that matter) be successful.  I think about all these guys who have been following these teams year after year hoping that THIS might be the year, only to be disappointed again.

Eichel will make his first return to Key Bank Center (and his first in another sweater) tonight as the Sabres take on the Knights tonight at 7pm.
