A local meteorologist was injured unexpectedly after an event that happened earlier this week.

You may have noticed that one of your favorite meteorologists is not sharing the weather updates on your local television station. That’s because something happened earlier this week that nobody planned for.

Patrick Hammer, chief meteorologist at WGRZ, experienced a bad fall over the weekend that will prevent him from returning to work for a few weeks.

He shared the news via his social media pages:

“I have been placed on IR (injury reserve) for a little while. Bad fall won’t keep me off my feet for too long. See you back on @wgrz soon. Thanks to @JenStanonis @Dan_Weather_Man @KevinBuffalo @paulharetv for keeping the team complete.”

Many people have been asking what happened to the Daybreak team on WGRZ and why Hammer was not on the show for the last few days, and Daybreak co-anchor Melissa Holmes responded on her Facebook page to give viewers some clarity.

“The question I've been getting lately: "Why aren't Pete and Patrick and you together on Daybreak anymore?"

The answer:”

One of the best parts about Daybreak on WGRZ is the rooftop weather reports with Patrick Hammer, and we hope that he’s able to return to the camera soon!

Sending well wishes to Patrick Hammer as he recovers from his injuries.
