Game after game the Buffalo Sabres keep finding ways to lose hockey games they're in a position to win.  Thursday night in Chicago the Sabres twice held the lead only to give it up and eventually lose in a shoot out 5-4.

Give the Sabres credit for roaring back from down 2-0 during a listless first period to score three straight goals in the second period in a span of only 3:29.  Vladimir Sobotka, Brandon Montour with his second goal as a Sabre and Zach Bogosian shorthanded gave Buffalo a 3-2 lead.

After the Blackhawks tied it in the third Kyle Okposo scored on a perfect feed from Evan Rodrigues to take the lead again only to have the Blackhawks tie it again 37 seconds later.

It was a wild overtime with the Blackhawks outshooting the Sabres 7 to 5 with both goaltenders stopping every shot, but in the shoot out it would have been nice for Carter Hutton to make a save.  He surrendered a goal against all three shooters he faced while Jack Eichel was the only one to score at the other end.

It's Buffalo's seventh straight loss on the road and their ninth straight loss in Chicago.

The Sabres travel to Denver to play the Avalanche on Saturday.
