It’s been one of the most popular songs in 2024 so far, becoming a trending sound on social media apps and topping the charts, including the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

The song is called “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and although it’s about, you know, getting tipsy – the kids absolutely love this song because they love doing the choreographed TikTok dance with their family and friends.

One of the reasons that the song may be so catchy is because it is built around the melody of a familiar song from 2004, J-Kwon’s “Tipsy.” However, the person behind the “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” is Shaboozey.

Shaboozey, born Collins Chibueze, has familial ties in Nigeria, but growing up in Virginia, many people struggled with the pronunciation of his name – often calling him “SHA-booze-EEE.” That’s how his stage name was born.

Shaboozey has been creating music for over 10 years, but this song has been his breakthrough in the industry.

But can Shaboozey do the popular TikTok dance to his hit song?

He never tried it until a local DJ in Buffalo, NY asked him if he has learned the dance yet.

Before performing at the WYRK Taste of Country Festival in Buffalo, Shaboozey was backstage giving it a try.

After a few moves, Shaboozey said, “I don’t know, I don’t know…I don’t do the TikTok dance.”

Hey, at least he tried, right?

One big highlight from the concert in Buffalo is when Shaboozey brought a kid up on stage with him to get the crowd hyped while performing “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” You can watch that video below.

It was such a cool moment, it even made it to The Today Show
