In your town there's probably a farmers market that you may have never been to. There are 7,500 farms in our area and according to Buffalo Spree:

The best way that we, as consumers, can show our passion for better, fresher, locally grown produce, meat, and dairy products is to buy and eat them, nourishing our economy along with our bodies. Fortunately, the growing appreciation for local food is most easily seen and tasted in the warmer months, when WNYers frequent the many farmers markets our region offers. These community-based markets provide us with an alternative to travel-weary produce of unknown origin, act as ad-hoc community gathering spaces, and give us the opportunity to meet the folks who work so hard to supply us with delicious and healthy ingredients.
