Unlike the game Wednesday night against the Montreal Canadiens, the Buffalo Sabres were rewarded for their effort Friday night in a hard-earned 3-1 against the Ottawa Senators.  Sam Reinhart led the way with a goal and an assist while Chad Johnson stopped 30 of 31 shots to pick up the victory.

Reinhart opened the scoring with a power play goal to reach the 20-goal plateau then later combined with Jack Eichel to set up Zach Bogosian for the clinching goal.  Nicholas Deslauriers scored Buffalo's other goal off a great set-up by Ryan O'Reilly.

With Eichel and Reinhart both having scored 20 goals this season, they become the third set of rookies in Sabres history to score at least 20 goals in their first season.  Danny Gare and Peter McNabb were the last pair of rookies to do it in the 1974-75 season.  Gil Perreault and Steve Atkinson were the first in the 1970-71 season.

The Sabres play in Toronto on Saturday night.
