Cheektowaga Police Officer involved in Hit & Run

There is a $5,000 reward.

The Cheektowaga and Depew Police Departments were involved in a pursuit trying to stop stolen vehicles early Monday morning.

Cheektowaga Police Officer Troy Blackhief was in position to attempt to stop the stolen vehicles with a Stop Stick. One of the vehicles hit him and was transported to ECMC and is in critical condition. Blackchief needed extensive surgery.

The accident is why Union Road by the 33 was closed for so long yesterday.

We have to find this person. This is ridiculous and it's another instance of police officers putting their lives on the line to keep us safe. CrimeStoppers of Western New York is offering a $5,000 reward for the info that catches them.

UPDATE: Apparently, the vehicle was found on Nicholson in Buffalo. 

The police have said it is a maroon-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee.
