Hunter Shot in the Chest in Pavilion,NY
The very first rule that anyone learns when they handle a firearm or take a hunter safety course is..."know your target and what's beyond it." Accidents happen. But many of the injuries that involve gunshots in hunting, could have been prevented.
A 42 year old hunter was shot while hunting with a friend in Genesee County over the weekend. The details are limited but Genesee County officials say that the two were hunting off of Perry Rd in Pavilion and the hunters were within 500 feet of one another when the accident occurred. The man was flown via Mercy Flight to a Rochester area hospital with injuries to the chest.
There are a few hunting seasons that are open that involve using a gun, including pheasant, grouse and small game. Firearm season for deer will get underway in mid November. Duck season will begin this weekend.
