It’s time once again for our Hometown Hero, brought to you by Keller Chevrolet and Batavia Downs gaming.  This Week’s Hometown Hero is originally from Niagara Falls, NY.  It’s 54 year old Air National Guard Technical Sergeant Leonard Cheff.

Leonard’s nomination came from his daughter Alexandrea:

“Leonard came from a long line of soldiers.  His uncle served in Vitenam while my grandfather served in the army for a bit.  He joined when he was eighteen but he never really was active or served in a war zone until I was sixteen.  My dad went to Iraq.  Then when I graduated high school he was sent to the Middle East again.

To say I am lucky to have a dad like him is an understatement.  I am blessed to have a dad like him. He has sacrificed so much for me and my sister and this seems like the only way to thank him. My dad has done everything he can to provide for us, to give us everything we need. he may have missed big moments like me getting my permit or me turning 21 he may have missed holidays and so on but when he is home he makes every minute with us matter. My dad shows me every day the things that I hope I can get in a husband.  He raised us with the same values he shows us every day: God comes first, honesty, integrity, humbleness, trustworthiness, respect, honor, strength, always to be thankful for what we do, not holding grudges, to be wise with money, healthiness and more. My dad may be one of the older guys but he can pass a PT test. I was raised to be a strong woman in a storm.  My sister and I may not always make the best choices but no matter how hard life knocks us down he holds out his arm and picks up the pieces whether it’s a bad grade, being sick, when were ditched by a friend, a death in the family or a broken heart he reminds us and shows us every day that he is there to catch us when we fall and that we’re never too old to come home if we need to. This why I am nominating him not just cause I am proud of the solider in uniform but because of the respect and love I have for the man in the uniform.

We want to say thank you to Leonard and to everyone who is serving our country and keeping us free. We are proud to call Leonard Cheff our Hometown Hero of the week.
