A massive storm front is set to bring high winds, rain, snow, and more to New York State today and through the weekend.

The storm is moving in from the West and has already triggered a wind advisory for Western and Northern New York, starting on Thursday afternoon and lasting until Saturday morning.

Those winds will also wreak havoc with the water on Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. Those winds are going to push the water from the west to the east along the lakes, and that will cause massive waves along both lakes along the lakeshore in New York State. Wave heights could hit 20 feet on Lake Erie and 27 feet on Lake Ontario.

The good news is that there is no risk of the water freezing, as it did in 2022, encasing vehicles and buildings along the lakeshore in ice.
