Over $60,000 Raised For Buffalo Animal Shelter and Ten Lives Club
The City of Buffalo animal shelter and the Ten Lives Club partnered with Resurgence Brewing Company for the “Resurgence to the Rescue” event, which featured a pet photo contest that raised more than $60,000 for the organizations.
Resurgence Brewing Company held a pet photo competition to determine which pet was the “top dog” and the “coolest cat.”
Pet owners submitted photos online of their cats and dogs, and people voted on which dog or cat they liked the most by making donations to the cause — with one vote priced at one dollar. The two pets that were crowned winners on Sunday would be featured on a beer can from Resurgence Brewing Company.
The City of Buffalo animal shelter and the Ten Lives Club raised more than $60,000 on Sunday.
According to News 4, Ten Lives Club Public Relations Director Kimberly LaRussa was not surprised with the community’s generosity.
“This animal community in Western New York is like no other,” LaRussa said.
Mayor Byron Brown announced the “top dog” and the “coolest cat” on Sunday afternoon.
“I hereby proclaim Don Juan as Buffalo’s Coolest Cat,” Mayor Brown said.
Don Juan raised nearly $1,800 to be named the winning cat.
“It was a very tight competition [for top dog],” Mayor Brown said, but Sven ended up on top. Sven’s photo raised more than $13,000.
