Rare Type Of Flu Virus This Season is Most Severe With Children
It's been one of the worst seasons for influenza in recent years but there's another potentially dangerous strain of the flu that is most severe in children.
18 deaths are attributed this season to the influenza B strain, from September through December. The last time this strain of the virus was prominent was 1992-1993.
This year's vaccine isn't a perfect match for the strain B flu virus but the CDC advises getting the vaccine anyway, because it does offer some protection from the dangerous virus.
