Last year the Buffalo Sabres struggled mightily to string victories together.  This year, at least in the preseason, they've opened with back to back wins.

Tuesday night at KeyBank Center the Sabres built a 3-0 lead and held on for 3-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.  Vladimir Sobotka had a goal and an assist while Jack Eichel scored a highlight reel shorthanded goal and goaltender Carter Hutton made 14 saves over two periods to lead the way.  Jake McCabe had the other Buffalo goal.

The Sabres played more of their star players for the home fans than they did the night before in Columbus including number draft pick Rasmus Dahlin while the Penguins were missing players like Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Phil Kessel, Kris Letang and goaltender Matt Murray.

Back to back meetings with the Toronto Maple Leafs is up next on the schedule.  They're in Toronto on Friday night and back in Buffalo on Saturday.
