Isolated Tornadoes Possible For These New York State Towns
The weather this weekend could pose a threat to your outdoor plans in portions of New York State. There is the potential for isolated tornadoes in some areas of New York as a round of showers and gusty winds move across the Empire State.
The fall is not officially here, but it sure feels like it. The cooler air, mixed with the changing leaves is setting the stage for the fall to arrive this month. There are few places that are as great to be in the country than New York State in the fall. But the transition from summer to fall will be a little rocky this weekend.
According to post from New York State's Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, there is a chance things could get nasty.
"Damaging winds, large hail & an isolated tornado are all possible. Stay weather aware & prepare now".
The heavy rain and wind already moved through Western New York overnight Friday in to Saturday.
How Prepared Are You For New York State's Power Outages?
The power seems to go out more often lately. The strong winds ripping through some of the bigger, older trees near power lines seems to be cause more damage over the last few years.
How prepared are you and your family for a power outage or weather related crisis? As we get going with the fall/back-to-school routine, taking inventory of things might not be a bad idea. Recently, my wife and I picked up a portable power station. It is great for short term outages as it will keep some lights on, a fridge for a short time and even help charge phones for a couple of days on a single charge. They are great because they don't need gas, are quiet and don't give off harmful fumes.
Thankfully, once we get past the weekend, the next few days look great!
