The pictures were taken from across the street from a new apartment building featuring floor-to-ceiling windows. With a telephoto lens, pictures of people napping, having breakfast, cleaning the floor…even pictures of kids!…were taken without their permission.

The exhibit is called “The Neighbors”. And now comes word some of the neighbors are considering legal action.

So the question is, is it illegal? Even though the faces of the neighbors are not shown, when you’re in your own home, you should have some reasonable expectation of privacy. But these people are in full view of everybody outside. There are no curtains or shades. Svenson is taking pictures of what he already sees out his window.

If it does go to court it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out. What do you think?

He got to meet someone he grew up listening to last night, Garth Brooks, for the first time.

Reason no. 1 why I don’t ever want to leave Buffalo — it truly is the city of good neighbors. Lindy Ruff was great for the Sabres organization, was great to the fans and was great for the city of Buffalo. He left a legacy, and the photo above is what he came out of the arena to find yesterday…signed by numerous fans and well wishers. Check it out.

Jon wanted to shut the show down and Kate would go bad-mouth them on public television. They’re selfish and I’m surprised they didn’t just split the kids down the middle and call it a day.

Seal & Heidi Klum-This one is only ugly because Seal lost one of the most beautiful women on the planet. That fact alone is ugly. Other than that, they both decided the split together and are still close.

A security concern?  Partly, but mostly to keep the street clear for construction vehicles while two structures are being built right on Pennsylvania Avenue.

The first is a glass enclosed stand being erected in front of the White House fence for the president and his guests to use to view the inaugural parade on Monday, January 21st.

Directly across from that structure is one to be used by the media. By contract, both structures must be completed by January 6th.  Demolition of both structures must begin 24 hours after the end of the parade.  Then the whole site must be restored within 30 days.

It was interesting to see an army of workers hurrying to get the project completed in time.

Thanksgiving is less than a week away, and everyone knows that the best part of Thanksgiving is the food! I have been helping my mom cook Thanksgiving dinner for as long as I can remember, and for some reason, there is always something that goes wrong! We have tried different recipes for numerous amounts of years, and none seem to work for us.

So we want to hear your Thanksgiving recipes! From homemade gravy to stuffing to any type of dessert — send us in your recipes. We will post them all on our website, so anyone else who is having troubles like myself can try them this year.

I am proud of my hometown of Marilla, New York. It’s a rural, farming, close-knit community. We live on a 65 acre farm, the same property my wife grew up on. I am even prouder of the way my community honors heroes…TRUE heroes. I am talking our servicemen and servicewomen. Our VETERANS!

On Sunday, I worked my law enforcement job as a part of the Erie County Sheriff’s Mounted Reserve Unit and rode “Cowboy”, joined by my partner Deputy Bill Pukalo and his horse “Spencer” in the Marilla Veterans Parade. Here are just a some of the pictures I snapped along the way.

Being a part of this is a wonderful way to say “THANK YOU” to all our Veterans. It’s the least I can do for all they have done for you and me.

I’ve been kind of only going half at it for the last couple years on Halloween.  You know what I mean.  You get a “costume,” but you really don’t put much effort into it.  This year, though, I said in the summer that I was going to dress up like Guy Fieri for Halloween.

You may have seen the show ‘Diners, Drive Ins and Dives’ or the game show ‘Minute To Win It’.  Fieri is the host of both of those shows.  I’ve always thought that he and I didn’t look that much different and decided that this year, I was going to see how close I could get to looking like him.

So I went to the girl who cuts my hair and asked if she could do it.  She responded, “I can do anything.”  And I’m starting to believe she is right.  I think she nailed it.  What do you think?

Yesterday I had the pleasure of walking in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk  in memory of a woman that I’ve never gotten to meet.  But I think that’s the case for a lot of people that walked that walk through the streets of Buffalo.  Directly or indirectly I think that almost everyone has been affected by breast cancer.  We weren’t just walking for one person.  We were walking for all of them.

I was walking along side my friends yesterday as I have for the past 4 years  to show them support for a woman named Carole Eve.  I never got to meet her because I became friends with her daughter after she lost her battle with breast cancer.  But I was told that she was the anchor in her family.  She lived her life with the patience of a saint and there’s no question that she’s severely missed by her family and friends.

It looked like it was going to be a rough walk.  The rain came down in buckets as I arrived at the base of City Hall to meet with the rest of the group.  But I’ve seen worse.  The very first year I did the walk we were out on the waterfront walking into the wind and rain.  It didn’t stop us.  We walked through it.  We were prepared to do it again this year.  Luckily, the sun came out as we crossed the starting line and we used our umbrellas as walking sticks instead of protection from the elements.

It’s an incredibly touching walk.  You not only see the families and friends who are walking in memory of a loved one but you also see the cancer survivors who wear that title proudly.  They walk to show that it can be beaten.  They walk to show that everyone is affected by this disease.  They walk to show that no one goes through breast cancer alone.

There were over 8000 walkers yesterday.  It’s really an overwhelming site to see all those people proudly wearing pink and pledging to help make strides to end breast cancer.  Hopefully one day our children will be able to say, “what’s cancer?”

It’s “Fortune Cookie Day”.  Can you believe it?  If you didn’t know, I wouldn’t be surprised.  I didn’t know fortune cookie day even existed.  I also didn’t know that the fortune cookie was invented here in the United States.  But it was and I searched the web to find some of the best fortunes I could for you.Here are some of the best I could find:

It was a show I waited all summer for. When it was announced I knew that the Jason Aldean/Luke Bryan show was going to be big. You can’t go anywhere without hearing at least one of their songs on the radio, a jukebox, Pandora or an iPod. They are at the top of their game and in the top tier of popularity in country music.

Jason Aldean has sold out EVERY show he has planned this year. Some shows have sold out in a matter of minutes. It took a few weeks, but the My Kind Of Party Tour sold out the Darien Lake PAC in record time for a country music concert. Anyone who is a FAN of today’s country music could tell it was going to be a special night.

After reading some of the reviews from this past weekend’s show, I figured I would give you my perspective on what was an incredible show.

Parking and Traffic:

No doubt, Darien Lake and Live Nation have some work to do to try to make things a little more accessible,smooth and timely when it comes to getting traffic in and out. After the recent changes to their regulations, things were more than frustrating for concert goers. We fielded calls, text, tweets and Facebook comments from some very angry people. Some who waited in traffic for hours. Some that missed the start of the show and even a portion of Luke Bryan’s performance. I planned ahead and got there early and left early in anticipation of the volume of traffic. But, because this was the first sold out show since the new policy, there clearly are some “growing pains” that need to be addressed.

The Crowd:

It was simply amazing to look out from the stage prior to the show and see the sold out crowd. The only other time I felt such energy was at Taylor Swift’s show this past Fall and the Garth Brooks’ shows from back in the day. Song after song, the crowd sang along and got louder and louder as the night went on. And why not!! These guys are very good and delivered exactly what the crowd came to enjoy. Like all of the shows lately, the average age is much younger than country shows of days gone by. The music has evolved and relates both lyricaly and melodicaly to the audience. Many of whom work their tales of to make the money to spend on tickets for the show. I think some critics need a reality check and remember what it was like to work all summer to make the money to see your favorite stars with your friends. And as far as hanging out on the lawn…in my opinion, if you are under 30, try to get a seat somehwere under the tent. The lawn is for “the party crowd.” I don’t go on the lawn anymore. It’s even too much for me. I realize however, that the younger crowd wants to get crazy and that’s fine. I DON’T think that gives anyone an excuse to be disrespectful. Urinating , fighting and acting like an idiot is NOT cool and should never be tolerated at any show.

Drinking beers and having fun?? I am all for that as long as it’s done responsibly and NOT at someone else’s expense.  Want to act like a dick? Stay home.

Today’s Country:

Unless you live under a rock, you will notice that country music is constantly evolving. I am a traditionalist and I still believe that country music should stick to it’s roots as much as possible. However, I am also a realist. If you are going to survive in any business, you need to change with the times and give the audience what they want. Country music is an ENORMOUS business that has learned to adapt from generation to generation. It is because of it’s ability to do so that it remains the Number 1 format in the USA and the Number 1 radio station in Western New York and most other markets nationwide.

My Critique of the Critics

To say that Saturday’s show wasn’t on the mark with the audience is plain IGNORANCE. Luke Bryan is one heck of a talent. He is funny, a great singer/musician and according to 90% of the crowd, “sexy as hell.” Song after song on Saturday, he and his band never missed a beat. Even after a rigorous schedule, they made it seem as though it was the only show on the tour. When Luke Bryan sang “Do I,” it was a special moment. I didn’t realize how talented Luke is on piano and the crowd went nuts from the first note.

I read what critics thought about songs like “Drinking Beer and Wasting Bullets.” That song was never a radio hit, yet, somehow, that song and “Drunk On You” (the boom boom song) got the biggest reactions from the crowd-including me I sang as loud as the next guy!! Critique the performance, not the lyrics.If you can’t relate or have never experienced the things Luke Bryan sings about, send someone who can. He sings about the things we “country fans” appreciate.

I forgot how amazing Jason Aldean’s voice is in concert. It is a real art to be able to sing on key and with such power night after night, city after city. Somehow, Jason and his band are able to be at 100% every time I see them. Saturday was no different. I really feel like some critics have a hard time watching what is happening with country music these days. Who cares what Jason Aldean’s band members look like? It is pure ignorance and narrow minded to assume that all country music stars and musicians should have a certain “look.” If it was me, I would want the best talent I could find no matter what they dress like.

Jason Aldean may not dance like Luke Bryan, but I thought he used the entire stage well and loved how he recognized those on the lawn. The tour is called “My Kind Of Party” for a reason. It is exactly what happened at Darien Lake on Saturday it was a party. Not just a concert.

The fans that waited all summer for this show got more than their money’s worth from both artists. The traffic tie ups and headaches were a combination of poor planing on the venue’s part and some of the fans not planning accordingly for a sold out show. If you have ever been to Darien Lake for any show, there are always delays and traffic jams. It needs to be addressed. As far as the entertainment that night, it will rank in the top tier of the shows I have seen this summer.

I have always considered myself to be a safe driver.  I’ve been driving since I was 16 and am now 34 years old.  That means that I’ve been driving for 18 accident free years.  That changed yesterday as I experienced my first accident.

It was a moment that could have been avoided too if I would have just done what I originally left my house to do.  I had some errands to run and I had the kids with me.  Monday was a beautiful day and I thought I might surprise my wife by getting the new car clean inside and out.  But on my way to the carwash I saw Ralph Wilson Stadium and thought I’d stop into the Bills Store to get my son a jersey to wear to our first Bills game.  That was my mistake.

As I made the turn down Abbott Road I got excited to share another football related exciting memory with my son.  However, that was quickly shut down as I tried to make the left hand turn onto One Bills Drive and I saw another vehicle headed toward mine.

I feel like everything started to move in slow motion.  I saw the guy coming but couldn’t seem to get out of the way.  Plus I didn’t want the impact to happen at my son’s door.  So as I’m yelling at the guy to stop (I know…weird that he didn’t hear me right?) I braced for impact.  Why didn’t I just go get the car washed like I planned on doing??

The next thing I remember there’s coffee all over the ceiling and passenger side door and I’m pulling off to the side of the road.  The other guy got out to make sure we were ok and after I found out that the cars were both still drivable, we headed to a safer spot to exchange information.

One thing that I was always taught was to remain calm after an accident as flaring tempers only breed flaring tempers.  It’s hard to do when someone just hit the vehicle your children were just riding in but somehow clearer heads prevailed.  We did everything according to the book and I was on my way.

Even still, every time I think about the accident, I think of how lucky I was.  Many people say lucky is staying out of accidents completely.  But it could have been worse.  Plastic and metal can be replaced.  I walked away with both of my children all in one piece.  That’s pretty lucky in my book.

High School football officials are instructed to treat thunder and lightning as the same thing.  When you hear thunder no matter how far away or see lightning, all players, coaches and others associated with a game must be cleared from the field and told to seek shelter indoors for a minimum of 30 minutes.  So I thought it was a little strange Tuesday afternoon out at Bills training camp in Rochester when I heard a rumble of thunder in the distance and there was no reaction on the practice field.  Then I heard another rumble and still nothing.  Then there was a flash of lightning and everybody scooted.  Maybe they were already considering it, but that flash of lightning brought yesterday’s outdoor workout to an early end after about an hour and a half.  The remainder of the workout was held in the St. John Fisher gymnasium.

It was probably the hottest and most humid day I’ve ever experienced at Bills training camp.  In a short time I downed two bottles of Gatorade and went for a third but everybody else in the media had the same idea.  I was sweating just standing there watching.  So when the clouds moved in it was some welcome relief, but it turned dark pretty quick and once the rain began to fall it came down in buckets.  It came down so hard some of the roadways in Rochester were beginning to flood.  So I couldn’t believe it when I got home I found out it hadn’t rained here – at least in the Tonawandas – all day.

I spent some time watching former Bills’ tight end Pete Metzlaars, now the Bills’ tight ends coach working on teaching techniques for breaking free from coverage at the line.  At the same time he was teaching blocking techniques.  Good to have Metzlaars back with the Bills.

One of the nicest throws of the day came from Vince Young to Derek Hagen down the right sideline for a 55-yard touchdown. The emphasis in 11-on-11 workouts was the running game and both C-J Spiller and Fred Jackson had some good rushes.

Wednesday’s practice is an evening workout and you need a ticket to get in.

Onfield workouts at Buffalo Bills training camp opened up on Thursday at St. John Fisher College in Rochester and I have to say there’s more excitement about this team than I’ve felt in a long time.  For so many years there’s been mainly a hope for a good season just as long as all the right pieces fell into place.  A different story this year because there’s an expectation this team will do well and you can just feel it. 

The Bills have made some key additions to the team with free agents Mario Williams and Mark Anderson, they had a good draft filling needs in some spots including cornerback Stephon Gilmore and signed receiver Stevie Johnson and running back Fred Jackson to new contracts.

On Thursday despite struggling with hamstring problems, Stevie Johnson made some outstanding catches including one where he blew by number one draft choice Stephon Gilmore for a 20-yard gain.  Welcome to the NFL Stephon.  Rookie receiver T.J. Graham showed incredible speed and had one outstanding catch.  And Fred Jackson didn’t seem to show any effects of the broken leg from last season.  He took a hand-off and went  30 yards for a touchdown.

I carefully watched the defensive linemen working out – an area where there’s a lot of talent especially with the addition of Williams and Anderson.  Joining 2nd-year man Marcell Dareus, Shawne Merriman and Chris Kelsay as defensive ends and anchored by tackles Kyle Williams and Dwan Edwards – this defensive line will be tough to handle.

Two players were in uniform but didn’t practice – center Eric Wood and defensive lineman Torel Troup.  Both are continuing to rehab after surgeries.  Cornerback Terrance McGee is also recovering from surgery and was limited in what he could do.  All three expect to be fully ready by the season opener.

Since last year, John Fisher College has added a whole new practice field in addition to the one they’ve been using over the years.  So now they have more room for the various squads to work.

They have 3 pm practices both Friday and Saturday.  Their first evening practice is this Sunday starting at 6:30 pm.

I am a huge fan of The National Museum Of Play at The Strong. You may have seen me mention them in some of my other posts; my family and I go there a couple times a year. So I was thrilled to be invited to bring my family out to explore the museum again today (Thursday, July 12).

I highly recommend this place to everyone. It’s not just for people with kids; however, kids absolutely love it, too. It’s the only museum in the world dedicated solely to the study of play. My only complaint is that in all the times that I’ve tried, I have never seen all that they have to offer there in just one day (but honestly, that’s not a bad thing at all).  I see something new every time I go!

There is so much to see there, and so much to do!  It’s 150,000 square feet of interactive, hands-on displays for you and your kids to enjoy. You can walk the streets of Sesame Street and dive right in to Elmo’s World.  Or grab a cart and learn what it’s like to do some shopping at the mini Wegmans. Or walk through story books and meet the Berenstain Bears. Or enter a Butterfly Garden with nearly 1,000 beautiful butterflies, birds, turtles and other animals.

I don’t know what it is about this place, but it gives you a great feeling.  As we were sitting there at one point today, we all agreed that it just makes you feel good being there.  I’m not sure if it’s the toys themselves or the nostalgia that goes with seeing some of the things that you loved most from your childhood, but the feeling is phenomenal.

The museum changes their featured displays a couple times throughout the year, and right now it’s The Design Zone, which is a really cool display that shows you how to build your own rollercoaster, create a skate park and — my favorite — lay down beats and put on a light show like a club DJ.

I’d like to thank the incredible staff at The National Museum Of Play at The Strong for taking such good care of me and my family while we visited!  As always, we had and incredible time, and the kids slept on the way home because they had so much fun.

There was a three alarm fire tonight.  Buffalo firefighters were called out around 9pm for a fire on North Ogden and Reiman.  The caption that we received said that the fire was at the CSX building on North Ogden St. in Lovejoy.  Thank you to the WYRK listener who sent us this picture of the fire.  Remember, anytime you see something happening in Western New York, don’t be afraid to send us a pic!
