I saw this today, if you’re trying to lose weight you should keep it to yourself.  In a NYU study, people who shared their plans of losing weight were less likely to enact them.  One of the reasons given was if you call attention to your good intention you can create a premature sense of attainment.  Okay this goes totally against what I’ve heard in the past.  I was always told that you need the support of people in your life so they can help keep you on track.  I guess it depends on the person really; I’m one to kind of keep things to myself and maybe tell one person about my intentions.  I definitely wouldn’t tell everyone I know because I know if I didn’t follow through I would feel even worse about my failure.  This is the time of year when you see more and more people coming out of the wood work walking, jogging and bicycling.  I see so many people in Delaware Park on my way home every afternoon.  I guess after being somewhat cooped up it makes sense to want to get more exercise, whether its to lose weight or just get outside.    What about you are the type to tell everyone what your plans are or do you keep it to yourself?
