If you are looking for signs that spring is on the way, the 716 has plenty for you to peek at.

Now only is the ice boom on its way out of the water in Lake Erie, Easter Activities are underway at the Broadway Market, and just about everyone is getting ready for Buffalo's favorite holiday: Dingus Day.

Another sign to prepare is Opening Day for the hometown Buffalo Bisons.

The Bisons are starting their 139th season of professional baseball in Buffalo. Their history in the 716 dates back to 1877.

The team is opening the season at the famous Sahlen Field in downtown Buffalo. It was constructed in 1987 and opened on April 14, 1988, as Pilot Field. It was the first retro-classic ballpark built in the world. It served as the example that many other baseball stadiums were based on, including the famous Camden Yards in downtown Baltimore.

When the Bisons open their 2024 season at Sahlen Field on Friday, March 29, 2024, they will take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. The game, set to start at 2:05, will be packed with thousands of anxious baseball fans.

Opening weekend will be the first time in franchise history that the Bisons have played at home in March.

There is much to look forward to this baseball season at the ballpark. In addition to opening day, the Bison are set to play 75 games at home, covering 13 weekends and more than 30 games in June, July, and August. More than 50% of this season's home games will be on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, so you will have more opportunities to catch the team over a weekend.

We're super excited about the season. The entire team schedule and additional details about this year's season are on the Bisons website.
