Right now, the SAFE act in place in New York is tighter and stricter gun laws across the state, which by many law-abiding gun owners is very unpopular. Chris Collins is trying to void out Andrew Cuomo's 2013 SAFE act with a new bill of his own--specifically focusing on the rifle and shotgun regulations.

His proposal SAGA, the Second Amendment Guarantee Act would "limit the authority of states and localities to regulate conduct, or impose penalties or taxes, in relation to rifles or shotguns."
