There were so many celebrations across Western New York for the 4th of July, and now that the holiday is over, we have to figure out what to do with the leftover fireworks!

Over the last several days, you may have heard neighbors lighting the remnants of their Independence Day fireworks. And sure, your neighbors bought those materials to celebrate July 4, but now many people are lighting those remaining fireworks to celebrate some other “momentous occasions.”

We polled together a list of ideas from Facebook as to why your neighbors may be lighting fireworks at 11 PM on a Monday. :)

  1. Fireworks at 11pm on a monday? what’re you celebrating, unemployment?
  2. Shhh it's the 4th week it'll calm down. The revolutionary war had bombs bursting in air that gave proof through the night that our flag was still there
  3. Adding extra light so people can see when going through your car tonight
  4. They’re celebrating shark week
  5. Wait till football starts
  6. People are providing light for those of us going through a power outage right now!
  7. It’s National Ice Cream Month so ice cream all month!

It’s important to be aware of what fireworks you are able to possess. In Western New York, sparklers are legal for customer use. However, fireworks, including firecrackers, bottle rockets, Roman candles, spinners, and aerial devices, are illegal statewide, according to FOX 5

Hopefully the neighbors will run out of fireworks soon. Until then, have your  earmuffs ready on the bedside table.
